Submitting Data to the Plant Genome Network

PGN is now accepting data submissions for EST sequencing projects. This page outlines the submission process, which is mostly web-based. In order to submit, you need a password to log into the PGN submission section. Please write to sgn-feedback@sgn.cornell.edu to get a password. Please indicate who you are, what plant species you are working on, and how many EST sequences in how many libraries you would like to submit.

Important Notice
All data submitted to PGN will be made publicly available through the PGN web interface and will be open and free to everybody. By submitting data to PGN, you implicitly agree with this policy. On the PGN website, all data will be clearly attributed to the submitter.

Please read this page carefully before you proceed with data submission. The submission interface is still experimental. Let us know immediately if problems occur.

With the user name and password, login to the submission area with the link provided by email. Every user can have several ongoing submission projects. Upon login, choose the submission project from the pull down menu and click enter.

Submission Main Page
The submission main page lets you edit your personal information, the sequencing facility information and the library information.

Personal information:
In this section, your personal information is displayed. You can edit your personal information by clicking on the Edit link.
Facility information:
Information for one or more sequencing facilities can be entered here by clicking on the Add button. Required fields are in boldface. You can add several facilities if more than one was involved in this project.
Library information:
Click on 'Add' and fill in the metadata for the library on form. When the library information has been added, a link named 'upload chromatograms' should appear next to the library name on the Submission Main Page. All sequence data for a library have to be uploaded as an archive of chromatogram files. Supported chromatogram formats are .ab1 and .scf. Supported archive formats are .tar.gz, .tar and .zip. The file names of the chromatograms (minus the format suffix, if present) will be used as the name of the sequence. Repeat these steps for each library you want to submit.

IMPORTANT: The sequence names have to be of the form: LIBRARYNAME-PLATE-WELL

Final Submission
When you have added all the information, click on submit. You will not be able to edit the information once you submitted it.

Logging out
Presently, you have to close the browser to completely log out. This will be improved in the future.
